California’s commitment to equity, adult learners, and guided pathways are in direct alignment with goals of the REACH Collaborative. Eleven community colleges engaging in a complementary Guided Pathways implementation project are poised to integrate REACH strategies into their work. California’s REACH collaborative, a community of practice led by the Success Center for California Community Colleges, will leverage resources from the national network to help colleges implement pathways-based reforms and supports specifically aimed at adult students of color.

Challenges to Tackle

  • Credential as You Go Implementation: Incorporate stackable non-degree credentials within at least two associate degree pathways by aligning curriculum and credentials, collecting and analyzing student data, and gathering feedback from employers and students of color.
  • Employer & Community Engagement Infrastructure: Engage employers, external partners, and students to provide ongoing feedback on REACH pathways, create new work-based learning opportunities, and communicate opportunities to prospective and current adult students of color.
