While culturally sustaining practices are a core component of REACH and a focus area for all community colleges in the collaborative, a small cohort of 10 institutions was chosen to drill down even further on these practices and receive additional targeted support. The selection of the REACH Deeper Colleges was based on specific factors that indicate they can fully engage in this more intensive experience – such as their ability to collect and disaggregate data on credit and non-credit courses and leverage existing work centering on racial equity, adult learners, and workforce-related programs.

REACH Deeper Colleges have access to:

  • Regular check-ins with collaborative leaders
  • Monthly, targeted technical assistance from national partners and other content experts
  • Bi-monthly feedback and support from equity champion consultants
  • Data coaching to enhance how the colleges collect, report, and use data
  • Annual in-person institutes for technical assistance and peer learning
  • Annual site visit by collaborative leaders to provide thought partnership and planning support
  • Additional resources to support travel expenses and other needs associated with this deeper engagement

Participating REACH Deeper Colleges

  • Arapahoe Community College
  • Central Virginia Community College
  • Chaffey College
  • Colorado Northwestern Community College
  • Forsyth Technical Community College

“Our college is committed to improving equity and student success for all learners, including Black, Indigenous, and Latinx adult learners. We recognize that addressing these challenges will require a coordinated effort and collaboration across departments, programs, and support services.”

– Dr. Jean Leandre, Dean of Career and Professional Development, SUNY Rockland Community College
